Strength- and Resilience-Based Therapy

Helping you lead your best life, to thrive and shine.

Everyone has promise. Let's use yours.

Whatever is keeping you stuck for now, your potential is still there.

Using a client-centered, integrative approach

Together we can shine a light on emotional healing, and help you live your best life.

Hello!

My name is Bryan Scheihing, LMFT (pronounced, “Shine”). I am a licensed Marriage and
Family Therapist in Highland Park who provides individual, couples, and family therapy for conditions like anxiety and depression, among others, as well as communication and relationship skills. I work with clients of all backgrounds with a particular specialty serving the LGBTQ+ community.

My favorite thing as a therapist is helping someone develop insight on how to make a
positive change in their lives. My goal is to help you realize your natural gifts so you can use
them to move forward to achieve your goals.

A Subject I Care About

Hello!

10 Years’ Experience

I specialize in providing affirming support for all people, with all sexual orientations and gender identities.

Awareness and Acceptance

I help clients realize their unique potential and natural strengths. Using these as a foundation, we harness them both to achieve the client’s goals.

Empowerment and Equality

We work together to facilitate emotional healing from negative messages or experiences that are keeping you stuck in the past, so you can move forward into your future.

What You Should Know About Telemental Health

In addition to in-person services, I also offer Telemental Health. The COVID-19 Pandemic and social distancing have increased the use of online therapy. Telemental Health is a growing field where your therapist provides virtual treatment and support via a secure online video chat or via telephone if needed. Not only is it a convenient way to continue your treatment while practicing social distancing, but telemental health allows people who are uncomfortable leaving their home, live in underserved or rural areas, or who work unconventional hours get the help they need.

Studies show that Telemental Health is effective for treating numerous mental health concerns. Furthermore, research shows that virtual therapy is safe and facilitates outcomes similar to in-person treatment. There are some precautions to be taken to help maintain confidentiality, which we will discuss together.

Why not see if Telemental Health is a good fit for you? Contact me with questions or concerns and let's talk to see if I can help.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Usually, we begin seeing each other once a week. Research shows that consistent participation in therapy results in more beneficial outcomes. When we meet weekly, we are able to explore therapeutic themes on a deeper level than if we have a less frequent "check-in." However, we can meet more or less often depending on what we determine is best for you.

Currently, I do not accept forms of insurance. I accept private pay at this time. If you would like, I will provide you with an itemized "Superbill" at the end of the month for you to give to your insurance provider in the hope of reimbursement. This is discussed and negotiated between you and your insurance provider.
